- Reuse the aluminum foil. Wash and dry flat.
- Save the milk jug for other uses.
- Take extra napkins from fast food restaurants to use at home (But not for company. They get the good stuff).
- Use smaller amounts of paper towels. Try 1 first, then get another.
- Make your own liquid soap or laundry detergent. Recipe are online or write me for free recipes.
- Walk don't drive whenever possible.
- Free live music is the cheapest way to great entertainment. Check out a local pub for bands and events!
- Unplug everything. Put it all on power strips and pull one plug for all.
- Open windows at night, and turn off AC.
- Don't keep pets. Use that $$ for vacation or pay off debt.
- Invite friends over for low budget entertainment. Let them bring their favorites! More to share.
- Cook in the crock pot. It's a no brainer.
- If it's yellow (#1) let it mellow, if it's brown(#2) flush it down saving water.
- Fill your car only when it's near empty to get the full value of your MPG gas consumption.
- Keep your car clean to use less gas.
- Camp instead of hotel stays.
- Don't eat out.
- Drink water at bars, drink alcohol at home.
- Don't buy bread. Make bread in a bread machine.
- Buy in bulk.
- Decant your bulk dry goods and mark with dates of purchase.
- Dye your own hair, but pay for hair cuts. You'll look like crap if you cut it yourself.
- Buy staple clothing. Solid colors bring out your jewelry! Jeans, button down shirts, blazers, 1 set of pearls, and 1 set of silver or gold jewelry. Classic! Mix n match.
- Hand wash delicates right after you wear them, and line dry.
- Line dry most all clothing outside or on hanger in laundry room and hang on racks. Clothes last longer.
- Only run the washer when you have a full load.
- Freeze uneaten food for another meal or make soup from it.
- Plan your menus and only but the ingredients you need.
- Try the $6 wine in the liquor store.
- Have a side job just in case you loose the main one.
- Save 10% of your earnings before you pay bills.
- If you use credit, pay it off in large chunks.
- Reuse as much as you can before tossing in the trash.
- Make homemade gifts that are meaningful not just fashionable.
- Grow and cut your own flowers.
- Grow a veggie patch. Try container gardening.
- Take all metals that you would have thrown out to a recycling center. You may get $$.
- Paint your own nails.
- Use baby oil for skin moisture after shower, and makeup removal. Forget expensive creams.
- Finally! Visit with family for vacation and get closer to those who are so important to us all. Meaningful relationships are worth so much more than money, or things. If you don't have special people you can visit, volunteer. They'll appreciate you. (C) suztheadvicelady Suzanne Richards, 2014 all rights reserved. :)

Immediate ways to save money

Fulfilment
Today I asked myself the next question of why I don't feel fulfilled. How do I fill my life? I have two kids that are growing up. One is going off to college and one is a teen (omg). I have a lovely home and a dog who I love. What's Next?
Then this came to my mind:
Dreaming! Daydreaming about traveling, beaches, arts, exotic cities, and shopping. As I dream I fill my mind with what pleases me. It takes me away from home or work and puts me where I want to be. If you want something out of life, you have to try to find ways to achieve your goal. Even if that means only dreaming about it. I think its healthy to daydream about what you want. I think if I focus on what I want I will get it some day. I know God has a plan for me and that I have to be patient. After all I can't just forget about my family and do whatever I want. That would just be irresponsible. Not at all like me. So I will have to save money for my travels. Not easy.
Now I am pissed. This sucks. I once again some how put it on the back burner. "Well I guess I will have to save money. Not Easy." Saying that make my wishes some how unobtainable. So now I feel depressed. I think my goals need to be apart of my everyday life. Not just a trip that I have to save for. I will get there. I will make a life that is fulfilling. I know I can.
More to come!
